Itinerary:

DAY 1: VIENTIANE MOTORBIKE TOUR TO PAK LEY

Our adventure begins in Vientiane, as we ride alongside the majestic Mekong River, venturing south and crossing through the lush expanse of Phou Pannang National Forest. The first part of our journey will see us navigating a mix of partially sealed roads and rugged construction paths, with the landscape constantly shifting around us. After a hearty lunch, we will ferry across the Mekong River with our bikes on small canoes, just a stone’s throw away from the Thai border.

Once back on solid ground, we’ll dive into the dense bamboo forest on a remote single track, rarely touched by civilization. The path is rugged, winding, and full of surprises, but its isolation makes it all the more thrilling. We are often the only motorized presence here, and the villages we pass through seem almost frozen in time. Eventually, we arrive at the logging town of Pak Ley, our resting spot for the night, after a day filled with adventure and discovery.

DAY 2: PAK LEY MOTORBIKE TOUR TO XAYABURY

The day starts early as we head towards the Nam Phouy National Park. This is a favorite leg of the journey for many of our guests. We follow trails along the border with Thailand, hugging the ridges of towering mountains that provide spectacular views. The ride is a diverse mix—from paved roads to muddy tracks, single trails, sandy paths, and rocky climbs. We’ll cross rivers and ascend challenging steep routes, where every twist and turn brings a new surprise.

In the heart of this untouched wilderness, we might even spot wild elephants roaming through the dense forest, surrounded by bamboo groves and towering old-growth trees. We’ll visit some of the ethnic villages nestled on the northern side of the park, adding a cultural touch to our adventure. After a thrilling ride of around six hours, we reach Xayabury for a well-deserved rest.

DAY 3: XAYABURY MOTORBIKE TOUR TO LUANG PRABANG

Today’s ride begins on a 100-kilometer stretch of tarmac, winding high into the mountains. The scenery is breathtaking, with terraced rice paddies painting the landscape in vivid green. Our lunch stop is in Hongsa, a town known as the elephant capital of Laos. Here, we’ll meet the local elephants and their mahouts, witnessing their bond and daily routines.

The ride from Hongsa to Luang Prabang is pure off-road magic, with trails winding through the hills and valleys inhabited by the Khmu people. As we ride, we’ll feel the history in the air, passing through ancient paths that lead us to the Mekong River. A ferry ride brings us into the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang, where we’ll settle in for the night.

DAY 4: LUANG PRABANG MOTORBIKE TOUR WITH SIGHTSEEING AND RELAXING

We start the day with an option: take a boat ride or hop on our bikes to visit the famous Pak Ou Caves. These sacred caves, set along the Mekong, are filled with thousands of Buddha statues brought here by pilgrims seeking blessings. We’ll also stop at Ban Xang Hai, the renowned whiskey village, to taste the local spirit and learn about its storied history.

Next, we head to the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfalls. Set amidst lush jungle, the crystal-clear waters cascade down multiple levels, forming inviting pools perfect for a swim. It’s the ideal place to relax, cool off, and soak in the beauty of Laos before returning to Luang Prabang.

DAY 5: LUANG PRABANG MOTORBIKE TOUR TO PHONSAVAN

Leaving Luang Prabang, we head off-road along trails once used as supply routes during the war. Our destination is Phonsavan, home of the mysterious Plain of Jars. These ancient stone vessels, scattered across the landscape, have baffled historians for centuries—their origin and purpose remain a mystery.

Phonsavan was heavily bombed during the war, and the impact is still visible today. We’ll visit centers dedicated to sharing the stories of the war and meet some of the survivors. It’s a powerful experience that adds depth to our journey through this resilient land.

We pass through traditional Hmong villages, offering glimpses into the lives of these resilient mountain people. It’s a long, challenging ride, but the breathtaking views make every effort worthwhile.
