After capturing some memorable moments, we continue on dusty off-road trails to Tad Katscham Waterfall, a hidden gem south of Luang Prabang. Don’t forget your swimsuit for a refreshing dip (please avoid bikinis).

DAY 2: MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURE TO MUANG HIAM & REMOTE TRAILS (B, L)
We start early, riding through winding mountain roads towards Muang Hiam, a charming rural town known for its stunning landscapes and natural hot springs. Along the way, we pass through small villages where you can experience authentic Lao culture.
A lunch stop in a local village provides a great opportunity to interact with the friendly locals. By the afternoon, we arrive in Muang Hiam, where we can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Overnight in a basic guesthouse in Muang Hiam.

DAY 3: RIDE THROUGH NATIONAL PARKS & HIGHLANDS TO VIENG XAY (B, L)
Today, we ride through some of Laos’ most pristine landscapes, passing dense forests and highland plateaus rarely visited by tourists. Our first stop is Phoulao, known for its mysterious stone menhirs – ancient relics of an early civilization.
After a late lunch in Sam Neua, we explore this charming town, surrounded by dramatic limestone karst formations. From here, we continue to Vieng Xay, an important historical site during the Indochina War. The caves here served as the headquarters of the Pathet Lao during the conflict, providing shelter from intense bombing raids. We will explore these caves and learn about Laos’ turbulent history. Overnight in Vieng Xay.

DAY 4: HISTORICAL SITES & SCENIC RIDE TO PHONSAVANH (B, L)
A morning tour of the Vieng Xay caves offers deeper insight into Laos’ history, followed by a visit to local villages where we experience daily life in the countryside. After lunch, we continue to Tham Piew Cave, a site of tragedy during the war, where over 400 villagers lost their lives during an airstrike.
By evening, we reach Phonsavanh, the gateway to the mysterious Plain of Jars. This town, once heavily bombed during the war, has since become a place of cultural and archaeological significance. Overnight in Phonsavanh.
DAY 5: THE PLAIN OF JARS & REMOTE HIGHLANDS TO XAISOMBOUNE (B, L)
Today, we explore the enigmatic Plain of Jars, an ancient archaeological site scattered with massive stone jars whose origins remain a mystery. While admiring these historical relics, we remain cautious of unexploded ordnance (UXO) left from past conflicts.
After our exploration, we ride deeper into the highlands, passing through Hmong villages and breathtaking valleys. In the evening, we reach the remote town of Xaisomboune, where we rest for the night. Overnight in Xaisomboune.
