Itinerary:
Cambodia Motorbike Package Tour from Phnom Penh to Krung Kep – Tour Itinerary:
DAY 1: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: PHNOM PENH MOTORBIKE TOUR TO KOMPONG CHAM (B, L, D)
You will be picked up from your hotel around 8am and driven to the Hog House in Takmao, approximately 12kms from the centre of Phnom Penh. Here there is a free basic breakfast if required. After all paperwork etc. is completed we take a ride on Highway 1 towards Vietnam. First stop is Neak Leoung. At Neak Leoung we cross the Mekong by Ferry and continue onto Prey Veng for lunch.
After lunch we continue onto Kompong Cham. That night we’ll have a dinner at a Khmer restaurant across the Mekong River with a few drinks at either Joe’s Mekong River Crossing or maybe Simon’s Mekong Daze. These are the only 2 places in Kompong Cham where you can be guaranteed ice cold drinks.
DAY 2: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: NORTH EAST MOTORBIKE TOUR TO KRATIE (B, L, D)
We have breakfast at Joe’s Mekong Crossing around 8am and afterthat checkout. We ride motorcycles to North East towards Kratie where we stop for lunch. After Lunch we keep riding from North to Strung Treng where we stay for overnight. Once in Stung Treng you’re welcome to discover the township and surrounding area The Bridge may or may not be open, but after the 2nd longest day in saddle for the tour, a quiet night with a meal on a riverside restaurant will probably be the order of the day.
DAY 3: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: KRATIE MOTORBIKE TOURS (B, L, D)
We have breakfast and after checkout we head back to Kratie. We check into our hotel, have lunch, and then take a short ride out of town to the freshwater dolphin sanctuary. After we return to Kratie we’ll have a quiet evening. Kratie does have a couple of established western run bars and restaurants so a pleasant evening is guaranteed with a meal at The Red Sun Rising. Tomorrow is day 4, the longest day’s ride of the tour. With over 450kms to start your journey at an early night is probably the smart move here.
DAY 4: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: KOMPONG CHAM MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO SIEM RIEP (B, L, D)
We meet for breakfast at the Red Sun Rising around 7am. We try to be on the road at 8am. Lunch today will be back at the Mekong Crossing in Kompong Cham. After lunch we keep riding to Kompong Thom for a snack and a cold drink. After our break we continue on to the town of Siem Riep Here we make a reservation into the 4 star Angkor Hotel. That night we’ll head off to a Khmer restaurant for dinner and a few drinks (if you have the energy). After dinner an optional few more drinks at a few of the bars around town, then overnight here.
DAY 5: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: TEMPLES OF ANGKOR MOTORCYCLE TOUR(B, D)
We will depart our hotel for the Temples of Angkor at first light. Unfortunately only specially licensed bikes and cars are permitted inside the temple complex, Our Harleys definitely do not qualify although we may be able to sneak in a back way after 5 pm if you desire. We will therefore decide whether to travel by motorbike taxi or car. Either way these costs are borne by HTC. That evening, after a swim in the pool we will enjoy a meal at the hotel. If you still have enough energy in you, the rest of the night is yours to enjoy the nightlife of Siem Riep.
DAY 6: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: DAY WITH SEVERAL OPTIONS OF MOTORCYCLE TOUR (B)
Day 6 is a day of two choices. You can take a ride back to the Temples or take a ride around Siem Riep to see the other sights of this, Cambodia’s most modern city. Perhaps there is even a third choice! A lazy day by the pool and maybe even a massage by the hotel’s in house massage service. The decision is yours.
DAY 7: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: SIEM RIEP MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO BATTAMBANG (B, L, D)
We say goodbye to Siem Riep for the much more leisurely pace of Battambang. Battambang is across the Tonle Sap Lake. From when we leave Kompong Cham on day 5 till we arrive in Phnom Penh we are virtually doing a loop around the great lakes.
One problem we may encounter here is the road from Siem Riep to Sisophon. If it is not suitable, we shall make a motorbike trip back to Phnom Penh. Should we don’t take a ride to Battambang you will have the choice of a refund, or an extra night and trip to Koh Kong, on The Thai border, later in the tour. This decision will be made well before our trip starts. If we make a journey to Battambang, lunch will be in Sisopon.
DAY 8: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: BATTAMBANG MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO PHNOM PENH (B, L, D)
We leave Battambang (or Siem Reip, which will make it day 7) for the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. We will stop for lunch in Kompong Chanang. Once in Phnom Penh we will make a reservation into the Billabong Hotel. The evening is yours to relax by the pool or check out some of Phnom Penh’s notorious nightlife. Your tour guide will certainly give you best suggestions.
DAY 9: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: KAMPOT MOTORCYCLE TOUR(B, L, D)
We will wait till rush hour is over and then leave Phnom Penh. We take a ride out of Phnom Penh and through the countryside to Takeo. Here we stop for a short drinks break in the centre of Takeo town. From Takeo we keep riding to Kampot. Here we book into our hotel with 2 choices of hotel, The historical Bokor Mountain Lodge with (6)rooms upstairs and bar/restaurant downstairs or the more modern Rikitikitavi with (4)rooms downstairs and bar/ restaurant upstairs.
Both are small so we may end up occupying both. Don’t worry about location as they are both on the riverside and approximately 25 metres apart. That night we’ll head off to a Khmer restaurant on the river for dinner and a few drinks. After dinner perhaps a few drinks at a few of the bars in Kampot such as the Rusty Keyhole (a personal favorite of mine) then off to bed.
DAY 10: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: KAMPOT MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO SIHANOUK VILLE (B, D)
We say goodbye to Kampot around 10am after breakfast at the Rusty Keyhole bar and restaurant. We make motorcycles trip to relatively quiet roads until we reach Route 4. Route 4 is the shortest route from Phnom Penh to Sihanouk Ville and warned, it can get quite hectic. Just before Sihanouk Ville we will stop off at the K’bal Chhay waterfalls. The waterfalls are about 10 kms off the road along a dirt track.
In the wet season we may organize our escort vehicle to bring us back later as the road may be quite muddy. We then ride our motorbikes into Sihanouk Ville where we check into the Reef Resort. From here you are free to relax by the pool or walk to the nearby beaches. That night we will head to Treasure Island, a Khmer seafood restaurant on a deserted beach. Then the rest of the night is yours to enjoy the nightlife that is Sihanouk Ville.
DAY 11: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: SIHANOUK VILLE MOTORCYCLE TOUR (B)
Day 11 is a lazy day indeed. You may like to just relax on the beach. You don’t need to leave the Reef Resort, perhaps a day by the pool. If you’re a bit more energetic your guide will be more than happy to show you around Sihanouk Ville or even organize an excursion to Strung Hav, a small fishing village 30 kms from town. Strung Hav is famous among local expats for its simple but tasty seafood restaurant. Once again the road is dirt and in the wet season it’s not the place to take a motorbike, still your guide can organize another way to get there if you prefer. Be it a trail bike or in our escort vehicle. You’re also free to explore the area and its fine beaches.
DAY 12: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOUR: SIHANOUK VILLE MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO KRUNG KEP (B, L, D)
We leave Sihanouk Ville but never fear, we are not leaving Cambodia’s beaches just yet. We depart the Reef Resort after breakfast and take a ride back to Kampot. After a drinks break in Kampot we ride our motorcycles for the short distance to Krung Kep. In Kampot we decide whether to have lunch at Kristian’s Rusty Keyhole (where the BBQ ribs are famous throughout the Kingdom) or, after a drink, we ride to Kep for seafood (where the seafood is famous throughout the Kingdom) Kep was once the darling of elite Cambodians before Sihanouk Ville became Cambodia’s number one beach destination.
In Kep we check into the Beach House, a splendid hotel set in the hills overlooking the ocean. Here you can enjoy the pool or walk down to the beach. That night we will make a journey to a Khmer seafood restaurant. There are getting to be more drinking establishments in Kep, but maybe a swim or quiet beer back at the Beach House is the best way to finish our last night before Phnom Penh.
DAY 13: CAMBODIA MOTORBIKE PACKAGE TOURS: MOTORCYCLE TOUR BACK TO PHNOM PENH (B, L, AND D – A BBQ)
We are in no hurry to take motorcyclists the 150 odd kilometres back to the Hog House. Maybe an early breakfast followed by an hour or two on the beach. We’ll check out around noon, and then have lunch at another Khmer seafood restaurant and start the final leg of our tour. We’ll return at the Hog House in Takmau well before dark with a few drinks, a swim and a BBQ before you are dropped off at your Phnom Penh hotel and stay overnight here.
End of Trip.
